For the curious03 / 06What’s it all about?
Product testing can involve exploring a website, using an early app prototype or evaluating a physical item. Researchers set the test scope, participant criteria and deliverables. Some studies require written feedback; others ask for a recorded session. Physical products are not guaranteed.
How to get started
- 01
Read the test brief, device requirements, recording permissions and any shipping or return conditions.
- 02
Apply with accurate information and wait for confirmation. Do not purchase a product unless the brief explicitly requires it.
- 03
Complete the test and submit useful, original feedback by the deadline. Keep proof of submission while the researcher reviews it.
A few things worth knowing
- Selection depends on the study. Applying does not guarantee a test or compensation.
- A positive review is never a condition of honest testing. Describe problems as well as things you like.
- Recorded sessions can reveal personal data. Close private tabs and notifications before sharing your screen.
- Check who pays shipping and whether a physical sample must be returned. Do not assume you may keep it.
Know what counts.
A useful test report explains what you tried, what you expected to happen and what happened instead. Follow the study brief, include relevant observations and remove private information from screenshots or recordings.

Clear answers. No fine-print treasure hunt.
Visit the help centerDo I get to keep the product?
Only if the study’s written terms say so. Some samples must be returned, and many tests involve digital products only.
Do I have to record my face or voice?
Requirements vary. Review permissions before applying and choose studies you are comfortable completing.
Will I be paid for a negative review?
Honest criticism can be valuable. Eligibility depends on completing the agreed research task, not giving a particular rating.
